“Major renovations have been underway in my backyard as we transform it from a rocky mud-pit into a sensory wonderland for my four-year-old boy Logan. Logan has sensory processing disorder, which means he needs to perform certain physical activities to regulate his system and ‘feel right’. A week afterwards I received some wonderful, surprising news. I’d been selected from their customer database as the lucky winner of a new Hammock Sofa Chair, which also arrived just in time for Christmas. So of course I added it to my presents for my husband to give an impression of mega-generosity (update: I came clean within the hour – you can’t lie on Christmas Day!).
We installed the sofa chair at the end of our outdoor table and chairs set-up, so as well as being another swinging device for my son to go to town on, it also serves the very practical and much-needed role of being a (very popular) seat when socialising.
To say Logan loves the swing is an understatement. It has become part of his daily ritual now, he’ll come downstairs every day to swing on his chair while reading his books, then jump on the trampoline, then rock-out in the sandpit, etc. (he’s very active). Being able to exert his energy in such a fun, safe and engaging way has been a god-send as he learns how to regulate himself and keep himself on an even keel with this combination of activities. And as we also have the wonderful Barbados hammock, I have a cosy ‘command centre’ where I can keep my eye on everything.
